OUR STORY
Veteran Owned and Operated
We began our farming endeavors with a herd of goats, a small flock of Katahdin sheep, and a few head of cattle before discovering the St. Croix breed while attending a state sponsored Master Small Ruminant course in 2019.
The breed's known parasite resistance, ability to lamb on pasture unassisted, and excellent mothering ability were attractive qualities and we decided to add a small number of ewes and single ram to our farm.

We quickly grew fond of the breed and decided to focus solely on St. Croix and on producing quality breeding stock for both new and existing breeders.

Management Style
Grazing - We rotationally graze our flock utilizing temporary paddocks consisting of step in posts and a single strand of polybraid (sometimes rams get two wires) and we graze each paddock 3-5 days allowing 30-45 days rest before regrazing.

Deworming/Antibiotics/Vaccines - We do not deworm our flock, we do not administer antibiotics, and we do not administer vaccines.

Feed/Nutrients - Our flock's diet is 100% grass based with access to fresh clean water, free choice cafeteria style mineral, and hay during periods of low growth.

Lambing - Our ewes lamb on pasture and unassisted. During the lambing season we check several times a day for any new lambs and within a few hours record their birth weights and tag them to ensure accurate pedigree data and to establish a starting point from which to track their average daily weight gain until weaning.

Weaning - Ewe lambs that we retain as well as any wethers are weaned by their mothers, ewe lambs that are being sold will be weaned no earlier than 120 days though we prefer to keep them with their mothers longer if the customer is able to postpone pickup, all intact ram lambs are weaned at 120 days.

Culling - We cull animals that develop parasite loads or that do not meet our performance criteria for weight gain.

Predator control is accomplished through a combination of electric perimeter fencing and Livestock Guardian Dogs.
